Community and Workshop maps render now

Demos from community servers that use Steam Workshop content (maps like Favela, Amalia and Lake, or server add-ons like XPLAY.GG’s) now render into evidence reels and highlight clips. We fetch the Workshop content ourselves, so there’s nothing to set up.

IMPROVED

Your dashboard and player pages load faster

For an account with 93 matches, the data behind the dashboard now comes back in about a third of a second instead of almost two. Player pages come back from our server in about half a second, and one we measured went from about 970 KB of our own images to 22 KB.

SEP 19
IMPROVED

Every match row offers both a proof reel and a clip

Your dashboard used to show Render proof only on matches with a review signal; now every match row has Render proof and Render clip next to the 2D replay. Since Sep 20 a row also says when there’s nothing to clip or the demo can’t be replayed.

SEP 17
IMPROVED

A second report on the same player reuses the first render

If someone already reported the same player in the same match, your report gets the finished reel at once, or joins the render that’s already running. You keep your own report and notes, and it doesn’t use up one of your renders.

IMPROVED

A CS2 crash on one round no longer fails the whole render

Some demos crash CS2 while we record one particular round, so we now skip that round, record the rest and say on the report how many rounds were left out. If a render still fails, it tries again every 6 hours for up to 2 days before we call it failed.

SEP 05
DETECTION

One match can no longer put a verdict on a player

A player’s verdict now comes from how many of their analysed matches tripped a review signal, compared with a typical analysed player. We need 10 matches with at least 12 kills before we say anything, and the aim model’s trigger is stricter.

IMPROVED

Your dashboard shows what the Steam sync is doing

My Matches now opens with a line about your Steam match sync: how many matches it has loaded, when it last checked, and a Refresh from Steam button. A match that’s still being analysed moves into your list by itself when it’s done.

IMPROVED

The 2D replay covers 12 more maps and opens from report pages

The 2D replay got radars for Office, Italy, Shelter, four Arms Race maps, Boulder, Debris, Eldorado, Fachwerk and Poseidon. We also fixed a bug that left about a third of demos with no replay, and added a 2D replay button to report pages and player match rows.

Anyone can vote on reported clips at /review

Community Overwatch at /review plays evidence reels of reported players, and you vote Cheating, Clean or Not sure with no account needed. The votes become training labels for our detection models, and our own score stays hidden until you have voted.

AUG 29
DETECTION

A new aim model reads how the crosshair moves into each kill

Aim scoring now uses a model that combines our existing aim features with how the crosshair speeds up and slows down into each kill. On the public CS2 cheat dataset we train on, it catches 67% of cheaters while flagging 4% of clean players, against 61% and 5.1% for the old model. On real matchmaking games it does worse than that.

NEW

The 2D replay got view cones, zoom and a full-width map

The 2D replay now draws a view cone for every living player, zooms up to 6×, plays down to quarter speed and marks every kill and bomb plant on the timeline. The map fills the width, with the score and round clock above it, and any moment can be shared as a link.
